He received his Ing. degree (in 1981) from theTechnical University in Prague (Czech Republic, EU), Faculty of Nuclear Physics and Physical Engineering and his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Physics Academy of Sciences (1986). He was a visiting professor at the Institute of Material Research, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, April-September, 2001 and a visiting professor (part time position) at Dept. of Materials Science, University of Milan-Bicocca (Milan, Italy, EU), March 2006-February 2008.
At the NANOCON 2013 conference Martin Nikl will present a keynote lecture at the Session A - Preparation
and Properties of Nanostrutures.
He published more than 520 papers in the refereed impacted international journals, 40 papers in non-impacted journals, six chapters in books and 45 papers in conference proceedings. Author and co-author of 32 invited keynote and plenary lectures at International Conferences. The publications received more than 4800 citations (Scopus, auto-citations excluded), Hirsch factor: H=42.
He is an author of five national patents awarded in the field of scintillation materials.
He is recipient of grants and research projects, including FP7 project “Luminet”, FP7-PEOPLE-2012-ITN, no. 316906 (2012-2016), coordinator of EU INTAS project (2005-7, seven participating teams in Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Italy and Czech Republic), no. 04-78-7803; bilateral international collaborations with Japan and China in 1998-2012.
Member of PhD study councils F-6 and F-14 at MPF CU. Lecturer for PhD students at the Faculty of Nuclear Physics and Physical Engineering (FNSPE) of the Czech Technical University in Prague. He supervised 10 Diploma students and 5 Ph.D. students from Czech universities so far.
